Artwork Review Process at Artcarme
When you upload a new artwork to Artcarme, it undergoes a review by our team of expert curators. This ensures that all the art we feature meets our high standards of quality and aligns with our platform’s values.
Review Timeframe & Status
Once you’ve uploaded your artwork and photos, please allow us to review your submission. The review process typically takes less than 24 hours. You can track the status of your listing directly from your Listings page. If your artwork is approved, it will be marked as “online.” If any improvements are needed, our curators will reach out via email to guide you.
Our Goal
We strive to get all artworks online as quickly as possible. While we accept the majority of submissions, there are some instances where an artwork may be rejected. Below, you’ll find common reasons for rejection and tips on how to ensure your artwork is accepted.
Gallery Photo Has Extra Background
If the main image shows additional background (e.g., a wall), it may be rejected. Ensure that the main photo only showcases the artwork itself with no background distractions.
Gallery Photo Does Not Show the Entire Artwork
If any part of the artwork is cropped out, your submission may be rejected. Always ensure the entire artwork is visible in the main photo.
Gallery Photo is Skewed
The main gallery photo must be taken directly from the front. Photos taken at an angle will be rejected.
Photos Have Watermarks or Other Markings
Watermarked photos are typically not allowed, as they can negatively impact sales. Please ensure your images are clean and free of markings.
Photos Include More Than One Artwork
While you can upload multiple photos, ensure that each image only features the specific artwork you’re listing. Multiple artworks in one photo can lead to rejection.
Low-Quality Photos
If your photos are blurry, grainy, or low-quality in any other way, they may not be accepted. Upload high-resolution images for better visibility and professionalism.
Photos Too Small
Please make sure your photos meet the minimum size requirement. Small photos may result in rejection.
Photos of the Edges of Artwork Needed
In some cases, we require photos of the edges of your artwork so customers can fully appreciate its dimensions.
Incorrect Photo Orientation
Ensure that all photos are uploaded the right way up to avoid confusion or rejection.
Not of Commercial Quality
If your artwork doesn’t meet the professional standards expected by Artcarme, it may be rejected. We recommend submitting artworks that align with commercial gallery expectations.
Not Enough Photos
We typically require at least three photos to showcase your artwork. Ensure you have enough quality images to represent your piece.
Description Contains External Links
Please remove any links to external websites in your artwork description. These are not allowed on Artcarme.
Spelling or Grammar Mistakes in Description
Please ensure your description is free of spelling or grammatical errors. This reflects your professionalism and improves your listing’s chances of approval.
Price Below the Minimum Threshold of £100
We do not sell artwork priced below £100. Please make sure your artwork meets this minimum price requirement.
Artwork or Artist Based Outside the UK, EU, or US
To sell on Artcarme, you must be based in the UK, EU, or the US. Artists outside of these regions will not be accepted.
Limited Edition Prints Missing Print Run Details
If you are listing a limited edition print, ensure you include the print run number (e.g., “Out of 75 prints”) in both the description and “Qty Available” fields.
Open Edition Prints Are Not Accepted
We no longer accept open edition prints. Only limited edition prints are allowed on Artcarme.
Unclear Whether Frame is Included
Specify clearly whether your artwork comes framed or unframed. This information is crucial for buyers.
Photos of the Edges of Artwork Missing
Additional photos showing the edges of your artwork may be required to provide a complete view of the piece.
Other Reasons
If your artwork is rejected for another reason, our curators will add a manual note to explain the issue, and you’ll receive detailed feedback to help improve your submission.
