At Artcarme, we aim to showcase a wide range of artworks from talented artists around the world. However, as part of our review process, we make decisions not only based on the quality and presentation of your work but also on the content being displayed. Artworks uploaded to our platform are visible to millions globally, so it’s important that we maintain a safe and respectful space for all audiences.
Prohibited Subjects
There are certain topics and content we do not allow on Artcarme, including:
Sexual Violence & Exploitative Sexual Behavior: Any artwork intended to provoke sexual excitement through depictions of sexual violence or harmful behavior.
Domestic Violence: Artwork that portrays or glorifies domestic violence.
Racism & Religious Intolerance: Any material promoting hate, discrimination, or intolerance based on race, ethnicity, or religion.
Pornography: Explicit content intended to be sexually provocative or obscene.
Any artwork found to fall into these categories will likely be immediately rejected, and the artist’s account may be permanently banned.
Subjects Requiring Approval
Some subjects may be allowed, but they require additional scrutiny to ensure they align with our community standards. This includes content related to violence and nudity/erotica.
Violence
While we understand that violence may be a part of historical, educational, sporting, or artistic contexts, we do not allow artworks that promote or glorify violence, harm towards others, or self-harm.
This includes:
Glorification of human suffering or tragedies, such as artwork that commemorates or honors serial killers.
Exploitation of natural disasters or human tragedies for artistic gain.
Celebration of acts of violence or harm towards individuals or groups.
Encouragement of self-harm like mutilation or starvation.
Acceptable contexts include:
Sporting context where violence is part of the activity (e.g., boxing, martial arts).
Historical context, where violent events are portrayed in an educational or factual manner.
Nudity and Erotica
At Artcarme, we recognize the subjective nature of differentiating between pornography (which is prohibited) and erotica (which can be accepted within certain bounds). We evaluate artworks based on the intent, context, and execution of the subject matter.
Acceptable examples include:
Non-pornographic fine art depicting the human form in a tasteful, artistic manner.
Approval Process for Sensitive Content
All images that are perceived to fall into one of the above categories will be reviewed by a panel of staff at Artcarme. After this review, the artwork will either be:
Rejected: If the artwork falls into a prohibited category, it will be rejected, and the artist will be contacted with an explanation.
Accepted: If the artwork aligns with our standards, it will be accepted and an approval notification will be sent to the artist.
If you are unsure whether your artwork may fall into one of these categories, we strongly recommend submitting it for review before uploading. You can do so by emailing it to help@artcarme.com with the subject line “Images for Consideration.”
At Artcarme, we strive to provide a platform for a diverse range of artworks, some of which may be relaxing, challenging, or thought-provoking. We aim to create an inclusive environment that respects all artists and viewers.
